Starting the 2024-2025 School Year
POSITION: 1.0 FTE CTE 7-9 Robotics/Agriculture Science Designer
LOCATION: West Valley Innovation Center
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Field
  2. Experience teaching agriculture science and/or robotics.
  3. Valid Washington State Teacher's Certification or the ability to acquire it with the necessary in industry hours of experience.
  4. Work experience (and management) in a related agricultural and/or robotics and automation setting may be able to be substituted for teaching experience if the candidate has the necessary experience to qualify for a conditional CTE certification.

  1. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Initial or Continuing Certification in:
    1. Agriculture Science
    2. Robotics
  2. Previous experience in a similar setting.
  3. Knowledge of modern day agriculture science.
  4. Knowledge of robotics or automated food processing techniques
  5. Experience running a Career and Technical Student Organization
  6. Knowledge and incorporation of 21stCentury Learning Skills
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of grade appropriate Classroom Based Assessments for Career and Technical Education
  8. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels.
  9. Evidence of providing for individual student learning styles.

  11. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills with other staff members, organization, and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  12. Satisfactory annual performance evaluation for the past 5 years.
  13. Dynamic, interactive, student involving, hands-on instructional style.
  14. Must be committed to implementing and developing project based learning.
  15. Must be willing to teach in a flexible learning environment that allows students access to choice based and self paced learning.
  16. Must be able to work in a multi age learning environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Assume responsibility for the Robotics/Agriculture Science program at the innovative center.
  2. Make a commitment of time and energy required to teach all students, regardless of learning style or learning limitations.
  3. Commit to bell-to-bell instruction using best practices including student evaluation (formative assessment).
  4. Create a safe and positive learning environment for all students. This includes adequately securing class and practice rooms when not physically present to supervise.
  5. Hold CTE Advisory Meetings, minimum of three a year
  6. Advise student leadership organization
  7. Adhere to all West Valley School District and West Valley Innovation Center policies and expectations for staff and students.
  8. Actively engage students in the learning process.
  9. Regularly incorporate higher level thinking and analytical skills in instruction, assessment and performance.
  10. Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
  11. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues.
  12. Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education.
  13. Be committed to success for all students.
  14. Participate in workshops and training sessions that support building and district programs and goals. This includes monthly staff meetings and professional development days.
  15. Implement the requirements of I.D.E.A., Section 504, and A.D.A. in the education of students with disabilities.
  16. Demonstrate every period of every day relevant bell-to-bell instruction.
  17. Maintain a secure classroom environment.
  18. Supervise student activities outside the school day as appropriate.
  19. Actively participate in WVSD's professional development program (TAP/ACCEL).
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade
skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform
the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment and utilizing pertinent
software applications e.g. Follett Destiny Library system software, Dewey Decimal System,
Internet. Must be efficient in preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents,
and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or
present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: elements
of library operation; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and age appropriate library/media
materials.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data, and use basic, job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing
defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is
also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and
utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify
issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent
interpretation; and problem solving with technology including chromebooks is limited to
moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include:
communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; working with detailed
information/data; and working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing
information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some
resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a
continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following
physical demands: occasional lifting (able to lift 50 pounds and assisting in lifting over 50
pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling;
and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 20% walking, and
60% standing. The job related is performed under a generally hazard free environment and in a
clean atmosphere.
