PRIMARY POSITION FUNCTION/SUMMARY
The Research and Learning Innovation Coordinator will collaborate with faculty and staff to conduct applied research and provide innovative and accessible online education programs focused on international agriculture to impact and benefit Illinois and global stakeholders.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Applied Research
• Lead applied research efforts focused on international agriculture and related implications for the competitiveness of the US agricultural industry and producers
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to publish applied research in appropriate outlets to benefit Illinois and global stakeholders. Examples of appropriate outlets include peer-reviewed journals and articles for the Department's award-winning farmdoc extension program
• Actively work with stakeholders and funding agencies to seek external support for their applied research program
Instruction
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to design, create, and maintain online courses
• Teach 2 courses per year. Course topics may include agribusiness, international markets, and global agricultural supply chains. Course delivery formats could include in-person, online, and hybrid.
Administration
• Design promotional materials and support learner recruitment initiatives for the Department's online graduate course and Certificate programs.
• Collaborate with ACE leadership to advance Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility efforts including creation and implementation of innovative programming to expand and diversify student enrollment and learner engagement across ACE's online programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• PhD in agricultural economics, agricultural business, agricultural communications, or related field
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
• Experience in preparing applied research publications for peer-reviewed journals and for broader stakeholder audiences
• Experience teaching college students and broader stakeholder audiences
• Experience working with and/or preparing innovative educational content for both in-person and online learning formats
• Content-specific knowledge about international agriculture and experience working in agriculture outside of the US (South America preferred)
• Technical skills and knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Canvas Catalog, and Coursera), Illinois Media Space, Box, and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Ability to work independently or in a team
• Oral and written fluency in a second language (Portuguese or Spanish preferred)
SALARY AND APPOINTMENT DETAILS: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The salary range for this position starts at $75,000. This position is a full-time (100%, 12-month) Academic Professional appointment.
