Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) temporary position for the College of Engineering (CoE) at Oregon State University. This position is based in Corvallis, but remote work may be allowed.
This position will assist the project PIs in investigating the market dynamics of aquaculture and the economics of aquaculture stock towards ascertaining the viability of novel precision aquaculture technology. The incumbent would have a background in business, marketing, finance, or economics with an interest in applying knowledge and skills toward environmental sustainability.
Position Duties - Conduct in-depth market analysis of Aquaculture and precision aquaculture business, including evaluating total available markets in different regions of the United States.
- Evaluate and assess the economics of aquaculture industries, including production costs, sales, and profit margins.
- Conduct industry informational interviews to collect business perceptions and use of precision aquaculture.
- Identify aquaculture field testing locations, and liaise with aquaculture sites to facilitate field testing opportunities.
- Provide weekly updates to the research team.

- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or economics.
- A strong interest in interdisciplinary research and environmental sustainability.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with limited supervision.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholder groups.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a graduate program in business administration, economics, or finance.
- Skilled at asking questions, getting to know others, and building positive relationships.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Experience with customer interviews or market research.
