Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Safety or related field.
  • 7 years of experience in safety within industrial setting.
  • Experience within a continuous flow, processing operation (agricultural, food, chemical, etc.) preferred.
  • 2 years of experience is a safety leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Knowledge of PSM and NFPA regulations as each pertain to plant operations.
  • Knowledge of effective training techniques.
  • Ability to organize and schedule, as well as conduct, training activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate with regulatory inspectors, co-workers, and supervisors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible to changing work demands.
  • Must be able to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 35% to AGP facilities.

The Director of Corporate Safety will lead a dedicated team to develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures, ensuring effective safety operations across the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety, regulations, including OSHA standards. The Director will provide technical expertise and support to the safety committees and local resources, fostering a culture of safety and accountability with AGP.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Oversee OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and administrative support to the various safety committees and local resources.
  • Halt operations and activities that may pose risks to employees or equipment within the scope of authority.
  • Identify and address opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on applicable safety standards and practices.
  • Review and recommend updates to safety training programs to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Perform safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety regulations.
  • Analyze accident and incident reports to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Support the workers’ compensation process by investigating issues, resolving discrepancies and liaising with HR.
  • Manage daily departmental activities, including employee training, work scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Complete and manage safety-related paperwork such as audits, workers’ compensation documentation, and safety reports.
