Information and Assistance Specialist

Overview of the Role:

As an Information & Assistance Specialist you will use your social services expertise to help older adults, people with disabilities, their caregivers and other professionals access the services and resources they need to thrive as they age.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with individuals, assess their needs and capacities, answer questions and/or provide information on services or community resources, which meet their expressed need.
  • Conduct the research necessary to answer specific questions or requests.
  • Link clients to available opportunities and services
  • Assist clients with public benefits applications as needed.
  • Send appropriate materials to callers as needed regarding services.
  • Conduct follow-up activities, as needed, to ensure callers receive and understand the information or assistance they need.
  • Respond to calls, letters, emails, or office visits from clients, people with disabilities, caregivers, public officials, and service providers related to Information and Assistance services.
  • Utilize iCarol, a web-based information and client management system, to provide and track information and referrals.
Required Experience:


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year of experience in social services programming, gerontology or other related area. MSW strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of databases and office software.
  • Experience in public speaking and training.
