Description
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing all installation, repair and upkeep operations for the facilities and equipment including maintaining of the process and production equipment as well as infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities. The Maintenance Manager will lead a multi-craft crew of approximately 65 people, or more, including hourly technicians and salaried supervisors, engineering techs and the scheduler/planner. The Maintenance Manager reports to the EVP of Operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage and lead all maintenance processes and operations.
  • Propose and obtain approval for the total maintenance budget (direct and indirect) including labor (both AGY and contractors), overtime and expenses and implement and manage adherence to the approved budget.
  • Determine facility and equipment specifications.
  • Gather and analyze data, blueprints and reports.
  • Maintain all machinery to ensure it is working at designed standards.
  • Develop and analyze reporting and communication of departmental key metrics related to maintenance processes.
  • Implement and maintain a reliability centered maintenance program.
  • Develop, coordinate and optimize predictive and preventive maintenance methodologies to improve uptime and other key maintenance metrics through the use of the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manage critical spare parts and participate in the management of inventory including min/max levels.
  • Establish and manage an effective and cost efficient rebuild process.
  • Evaluate operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operation efficiencies.
  • Develop processing plans and optimize resource allocation.
  • Plan and coordinate infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues on equipment within the facility.
  • Evaluate and develop the skill sets of the employees within the Maintenance Department.
  • Apply engineering principles to design out failures and improve efficiencies of production and facilities equipment and systems.
  • Participate in the development of engineering projects as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Minimize maintenance indirect labor cost including minimizing overtime.
  • Continuously review process equipment components to ensure process equipment is available as components become obsolete.
  • Handle general accounting tasks, such as payroll, and budgeting. Analyze project costs and prepare budgets.
  • Oversee and supervise the quality of work for other employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Manage and review service contracts.
  • Conduct and document regular equipment inspections.
  • Maintenance Project Management - Obtain Competitive Quotes, Write and Justify Capital Appropriation Requests, Coordinate and execute Capital Projects.
  • Perform make versus buy analyses to determine if in-house maintenance labor or contractor labor is more cost effective.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes and health and safety standards.
  • Prepare reports and compliance documentation.
  • Measure results using both maintenance and production metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.

Work Environment

This position will mainly take place in a manufacturing environment. Employees of the company will be exposed to a medium manufacturing environment and must follow established safety policies. Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
  • B.S. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or similar role in a heavy manufacturing plant.
  • Proficient with MS Office and computerized maintenance management systems (Oracle eAM desirable).
  • Project management skills including capital project generation, justification, submission and implementation.
  • Ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously and to use data to prioritize efforts and set focus.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills - supervise teams consisting of salaried staff, hourly staff and contractors.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of a problem-solving mindset and working with internal customers while building key relationships.
  • Ability to work and function with a broad range of personalities and skill sets.
  • Hands-on mindset.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
  • Knowledge of building process and construction principles.
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in the glass fiber reinforcements industry desirable but not required.
Position Type, Expected Work Hours and Travel
Full time salaried exempt position, 40-45 hours per week. Occasional hours outside of normal hours on nights and weekends may be required to support the needs of the plant and for emergency outages. Travel less than 10%.
