JOB SUMMARY: The Administrative House Supervisor is a Registered Professional Nurse who has administrative responsibility for the management of all hospital services on his/her shift. Moves throughout Facility to monitor hospital operations and correct and direct as needed or as appropriate. Directly supervises and communicates with all staff house-wide. He/she may perform direct patient care within the scope of practice. Continually assess care provided in the hospital.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1.Current and valid RN License in the State of Texas, BSN preferred.
2.Training on violence in the workplace prevention within 6 months of hire.
3.BLS, ACLS, NIHSS upon hire and maintain current.
4.Minimum of 2 years acute care/critical care/emergency nursing experience required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Completes House supervisor report every shift, and logs daily codes, RRT, Deaths, and restraints in appropriate PI folders.
2.Provides adequate staffing for the following shift based on staffing patterns, patient acuity, and recommendations of unit's charge nurse.
3.Demonstrates knowledge of staffing patterns and patient acuity systems to provide adequate staffing; reviews schedules and adjusts as necessary to meet defined patient needs.
4.Provides effective communication and coordination between the medical staff, ancillary staff, nursing administration, and nursing staff.
5.Assist with onboarding and orientation of contract employees.
6.Independently recognizes and performs disciplinary actions concerning unusual occurrences regarding employees. Provides feedback to other House Supervisors regarding any performance concerns and develops action plans as appropriate.
7.Informs administrative personnel appropriately of events, problems, and needs within the hospital. Works to improve services with the facility.
8.Promotes implementation of hospital policies and procedures and administrative decisions.
9.Helps to coordinate and integrates services with their department and with other departments.
10.Supports staff in detecting and reporting medication errors and ADR's according to hospital policy.
11.Supervises staff to ensure the patients, families, visitors, physicians and staff are treated with courtesy and respect.
12.Demonstrates the ability and responsibility to direct by assuming accountability for the performance of tasks of employees directed under his/her direct supervision.
13.Responsible for adverse event/consequences as a result of his/her independent judgment when assigning the staff and evaluating patient care outcomes.
14.Appropriately assigns, delegates, and supervises patient care activities utilizing independent judgment to assess the qualifications and experience/competency of the staff member and individual needs of the patient (activity) and family.
15.Mentor staff by demonstrating empathy and respect for patients by explaining all procedures, providing privacy and allowing patients to express emotional needs.
16.Demonstrates and fosters an awareness and understanding of the hospital continuous quality program including Core Measures. Ensures staff implementation of standardized Core Measures procedures.
17.Demonstrates ability for conflict resolution when resolving issues with employees and/or patients.
18.Participates in interviews effectively and provides recommendation for hire to the CNO for open positions.
19.Monitors time and attendance for licensed and unlicensed personnel.
20.Assumes leadership responsibilities by assisting with educational opportunities, and items needing to be addressed for corrective actions.
21.Performs other management duties requiring independent judgment as assigned by the CNO.
22.Performs other duties as assigned or required.
