Ahtna Global LLC is Hiring a Project Manager II/Sr - Ahtna Global Near Anchorage, AK

Description

Summary:

Provide overall project management direction on a wide variety of construction and/or environmental projects. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills to complete job duties with minimal guidance. The position is schedule-driven; Project Managers must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. Project Managers must be capable of assembling and leading teams to conduct the work. Project Managers must demonstrate innovation, excellent communication skills, and a high level of customer service.

The salary range for this position is $150,000-$170,000/year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Review and approve detailed project/component-level plans.
  • Manage and oversee projects, including managing subcontracting process and subcontractors' activities, prepare technical evaluations on their engineering specialty, identify and recommend solutions to mitigate issues and problems encountered during various construction phases in accordance with project scope of work, acceptable construction code/practices, and Federal and State regulations.
  • Develop and define acceptance criteria for all project phases/key deliverables. Close monitoring of critical milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure the project stays aligned with the strategic goals and delivers the planned/stated benefits.
  • Provide engineering and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written documentation.
  • Collaborate with various groups within Ahtna and multiple client organizations.
  • Identification analysis of all project risks and preparation for a risk response plan.
  • Proactive communication of risks to concerned stakeholders.
  • Identify and ensure resolution of all project-level issues.
  • Manage all communications between internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties.
  • Ensure preparation of various status and progress reports with metrics for various stakeholders.
  • Align all the project components and groups to ensure project success.
  • Supervise construction field staff and tradesmen. Work closely with site superintendents in executing a wide variety of construction activities, overseeing and conducting field quality control functions with field QC staff.
  • Foster a high-performance team environment where diversity is valued and people are treated with respect and dignity. Applying innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, regulatory, and security processes.
  • Preparing and reviewing proposals per RFP and bid documents, including estimating and bid reviews.
  • Authoring and/or reviewing contract deliverables including, but not limited to, product or technical submittals, work plans, safety plans, sampling and analysis plans, and reports.
  • Support field staff as necessary.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to:

Level - II

  • Provide client assistance to program managers;
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget on medium-sized projects
  • Maintain 2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Prepare medium-sized task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring

Level - Senior

  • Business development assistance to program managers;
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget on large-sized projects
  • Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task orders and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring

Minimum Qualifications:

All levels:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, or Physical/Environmental Sciences
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle
  • Experience with Federal contracting
  • Experience and adept at explaining technical aspects of fieldwork to internal and external clients verbally and in writing
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g., DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software

Level - II

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - Senior

  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GIS Software
  • Professional Registration such as PE, PG, CEM or PMP
  • Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures

Shareholder Preference:

  • Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, preference will be given to qualified Ahtna Native Corporation Shareholders, Descendants, and Spouses in all phases of employment.

Working Environment:

  • Generally, indoors. While outdoors may be subject to construction site conditions, confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Physical Demands (including but not limited to):

  • Frequent sitting for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below desk level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place.
  • While in the field, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials
  • Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
  • Moderate travel required to shareholder communities, subsidiary offices, and other project locations as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or as needs dictate
