Description

Summary:

Assist team members with the overall execution of projects in accordance with the established budget, schedule, contract plans and specifications. This position reviews design and bidding documents, evaluates contractor bids, and oversees construction progress and scheduling. Additionally, the Construction Project Engineer provides technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Manager. Ensure the company's safety culture is documented, communicated, and enforced in accordance with the company's established policies and procedures. The position may require 75% travel or more.

The salary range for this position is $80,458-$157,042/year, please note this is a tiered position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Enforce safety culture
  • Preparing project submittals per specification divisions.
  • Maintaining project record documents.
  • Perform technical review of contract plans and specifications.
  • Provide oversight and documentation related to project quality control in accordance with the contract plans, specifications, and company policies and procedures.
  • Preparing daily construction reports and progress tracking.
  • Manage, interpret, and perform site due diligence or surveying.
  • Assist with the procurement, scheduling, and management of subcontractors.
  • Assist with the procurement or rental of equipment and materials.
  • Assist the Site Superintendent and Project Manager with project daily cost reporting and tracking.
  • Perform Office engineering support, including:
    • Assist in the development of project cost estimates, proposals, and material take-offs.
    • Coordinate project change-order management, creation, and negotiation
    • Perform other administrative or office duties as required or as assigned.
    • Travel to project sites as necessary for extended durations.
    • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.

Level Specific Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)

Level - I

  • Project assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on assigned tasks
  • Execute assigned tasks in accordance with work plans and direction from higher-level staff
  • Acquire and/or develop an area of technical expertise
  • Engage program and project managers for task assignments
  • 50% - 60% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations

Level - II

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers on scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects
  • Maintain 1-2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
  • Technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with task order and project proposals
  • Technical mentoring
  • 30% - 50% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations

Level - III

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
  • Maintain 2 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
  • Assist with task order and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
  • Manage smaller projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring and similar tasks
  • 20% - 40% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations

Level - Senior

  • Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on
  • Maintain 2-3 areas of technical expertise
  • Lead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documents
  • Prepare task order and project proposals
  • Project staffing and technical mentoring
  • Manage projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks
  • 10% - 25% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locations

Minimum Qualifications:

All levels:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent project related experience.
  • Must be able to thoroughly understand the scope of a given civil project through the plans and project specifications.
  • Must be self-directed with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Adept at explaining technical aspects of field work to internal and external clients verbally and in writing

Level - I

  • Zero (0) to Three (3) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - II

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - III

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level - Senior

  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant working experience, specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience
  • Professional Engineer Registration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in other programs such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 scheduling software, AutoCAD, GIS, and databases
  • ADEC Qualified Person
  • 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher
  • CPR/1st Aid Certified
  • Experience working on projects with Federal clients
  • Experience with USACE/NAVFAC/AFCEC QCS Systems
  • Assisting with the development of cost estimates and proposals.
  • Prior experience with materials procurement and purchasing.
  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

  • Lift, carry and push/pull at least 50 pounds without difficulty.
  • Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.
  • Climb in and out of equipment

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, hours based on business/operational needs
