Position Summary

As Development & Donor Relations Specialist, you will play a lead role in the acquisition, retention and elevation of the Foundation's Doing a World of Good fund (unrestricted / general support), including annual, recurring and planned donors. You will also assist the team in identification, cultivation, engagement and stewardship for mid and major donors as well as lead prospect research and screening. You will ensure timely gift processing, including acknowledgements and thank you letters are created / sent by providing oversight to the Foundation Admin and serve as the liaison with the accounting and IT departments, for accurate and consistent data reporting. As a critical member of the development team, your efforts will enhance individual and corporate donor relationships.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development & Donor Relations Specialist will achieve the following:

  • Lead all DAWG fund needs including development of appeals and stewardship materials, data reports, etc. to achieve fundraising targets and in line with our external partner contract
  • Advance our matching gift / volunteer gift strategy to deepen donor engagement and boost fundraising affinity
  • Develop a monthly / recurring giving strategy that retains and elevates dues bill donors
  • Identifies planned giving prospects and creates segmented materials to secure new donors via all the planned giving vehicles
  • Support the Foundation team through preparation of monthly giving reports for the Foundation (individual & corporate) as a dashboard to goal
  • Oversee and / or prepare thank-you letters and accounting memos in accordance with the gift process
  • Manage the multi-year gift / pledge calendar and facilitates all materials to support the gift cultivation and stewardship
  • Manage prospect research including wealth screening, database review etc. to support mid-level and major donor identification and qualification
  • In collaboration with the Director of Development, review the current gift reports and offers analysis and assessment for changes
  • Collaborate with other departments on data collection to translate data into impact in development of mid-level and major donor stewardship reports

Skills

  • Experience in identifying and qualifying donors to lead gift asks or work in tandem on gift asks with a development team member
  • Effective listener and communicator, able to adjust conversation based upon donor / prospect feedback
  • Experience in a data-focused environment to advance fundraising goals
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills; strong attention to details
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully within a highly collaborative and collegial organization
  • Adapt to new situations and quickly problem solve

Software Proficiencies

  • MS Office Products (Advanced PowerPoint, Advanced Excel (basic equations, pivot tables, percentages), Word, Outlook and Teams)
  • Personify (or similar database / customer relationship management tool)
  • Smartsheet a plus

Requirements

Educational & Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience within nonprofit, fundraising or similar organization; business development experience a plus

Location & Travel

  • This position is currently hybrid, is based at our NYC Global Office. You will be required to work in the office up to 2-3 days per week, on a schedule to be determined with the department manager. Up to 10% travel is expected.
