Air Force Civilian Service is Hiring an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic (Instrument Mechanic) Near Great Falls, MT

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) are looking for Full-Time (Term) Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic (Instrument Mechanic), WG-2606-11, to work at Malmstrom AFB, MT. The primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate highly complex systems of electronic sensing and controls. Operates and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and energy monitoring and control (EMCS) utilities systems and to increase efficiency while conserving and reducing utility, energy consumption.

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship

• Obtain & maintain a Security clearance

• Drug Test: No

• Comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices; knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing, and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, and similar devices and knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of HVAC such as heating sequence and operations.

• Knowledge of automated data processing data processing functions, techniques, and capabilities including UNIX operation systems, related database principles, structured query language, microcomputer operation and the network operator system.

• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic principles and theory to electronic principles to troubleshoot and service instruments are equipment; electronics including AC and DC, amplification, power supplying, transistors, semi-conductor theory, and servomechanism principles to test electronic circuitry and repair or replace items such as circuit cards, integrated chips, resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, relays, and transformers; and mechanical motion and gearing principles to make adjustments for alignment, parallelism, and concentricity, and to connect, mesh, and align surfaces, assemblies, and parts with one another.

• Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.

• Skill to perform complete and partial teardowns of the instruments and clean parts and examine for wear, foreign matter, damage, and similar conditions, and to make appropriate repairs.

• Skill in the set up and operation of software controlled automatic test equipment in both manual or automatic mode to run existing or new and /or extensively modified diagnostic equipment/programs for HSQ, STaefa/Landis Direct Digital Control (CDC), other DDC systems. Test equipment such as manometers, oscilloscopes, ampmeters, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), and specialized service tools from equipment manufacturer, and use of measuring devices such as vernier calipers, height gauges, comparators, and surface gauges.

• Ability to read and interpret variety of technical data, such as schematics, diagrams, and technical orders relating to the electronic trade.

• Ability to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and install complete electronic systems.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
