The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a High Voltage Electrician (WG-2810-10) to join the team at the 87th Civil Engineering Squadron, Joint Base McGuire - Dix - Lakehurst, New Hanover, NJ. In this position, you would install, modify, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electric power controlling equipment and/or distribution lines.

Hourly pay range $31.36- 36.57 Based on experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Installs, modifies, tests, repairs, and maintains transformers, converters, regulators, cables, switches, circuit breakers, mechanical and electronic systems, and other circuit elements found in substations.

- Installs, modifies, connects, inspects, and repairs overhead and underground electrical distribution lines.

- Troubleshoots distribution circuits and generating and controlling equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)

- Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, layout, and complete maintenance or repair work needed for high voltage equipment and lines; and of high voltage electrical equipment and distribution lines such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, recording instruments, control systems, series and parallel, circuits, line loading, line losses.

- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, instruments used in shop, and trade practices; and of troubleshooting and locating defects and trouble spots.

- Ability to install, modify, test, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain high voltage electric power-controlling equipment and/or distribution lines without more than normal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

- US Citizenship is required

- Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors.

- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An Appropriate valid driver's license is required for the position.
