The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full Time Systems Integration Engineer, (GS-0801-13) to work at Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC), Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), Air Force Civil Engineer Operations (CO), Maintenance and Cyberspace Division, AF CE FRCS (COMI) at Tyndall AFB, FL. This position has a typical 2024 salary range of $103,409 - $134,435 (includes locality).

Qualifications/Requirements:

he primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional engineer and technical expert with senior systems engineering responsibility. Work encompasses the acquisition and development process in which the Air Force (AF) Civil Engineer (CE) Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS) employee provides technical leadership in the planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define civil engineer system/subsystem requirements to ensure assigned project/program success, translate requirements into design criteria, evaluate alternative design approaches, and develop system specifications.

• U.S. Citizenship.

• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

• The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position.

• Position has been identified as a testing designated position. Incumbent subject to random drug testing.

• This position is emergency essential (E-E). The incumbent must meet all requirements of E-E positions and may be required, as a condition of employment, to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases. During a crisis, the incumbent or designated alternate must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The same will be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent or designated alternate to be removed from any military recall status.”

• The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

• Emergency overtime may be required.

• Employee must file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Disclosure Report upon appointment and annually thereafter.

• May be required to acquire and maintain certification(s), such as Certified Information System Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, Global Information Assurance Security Leadership Certification, and/or other specialized training authorized by supervisor.

• Performs professional systems engineering work in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of AF CE FRCS systems, components, and/or support equipment. Applies expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned projects remain consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies.

• Functions as technical specialist in developing system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and the estimation of time and resources for system design, development, and support.

• Performs complex and comprehensive analyses and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects. Evaluates procedures and employs innovative techniques and methods to achieve goals.

• Serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations. Provides status and advisory services to superiors on problems, issues, and projects in assigned program areas.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SIGNIFICANT FACTS:

Basic Requirements:

Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
