Job Summary :

The HVAC Test Technician builds, sets up, and tests prototypes for product implementation.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

• Performs psychometric room lab testing on engineering prototypes which includes instrumentation.
• Builds, modifies, and/or troubleshoots production units for acceptance testing.
• Generates lab data test reports.

Education and Experience:

• Universal Certificate in Refrigerant Handling preferred.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC products preferred but not required if mechanical aptitude is demonstrated.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and LabView preferred.
• Experience with power and hand tools, acetylene torch, refrigerant reclaimer, vacuum pump, and flow hood.
• Experience with copper brazing HVAC components and systems.
• Experience with temperature measurements, thermocouples, RTDs, pressure transducers, and various measurement sensors.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Close mental and visual attention required to view and analyze test data in real time and create detailed lab reports.
• The Lab Technician is frequently required to sit, walk, finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, reach, and pull with arms, and crouch, bend or kneel. Occasionally standing, talking, hearing, and climbing are required.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Required to use safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves while performing specific tasks.

Work Environment:

• The Lab Technician spends 100% of their time in a lab environment on the shop floor.
• The lab is stationed near the shop air compressors which is loud enough that it causes employees to shout to be heard.
• Exposure to oils, hazardous materials, and occupational hazards such as refrigerant and refrigerant oils and live electrical circuits and moving parts.
