Position Summary

Responsible for current and future expansion and development of and investment in satellite manufacturing capacity of the Airbus U.S. Space and Defense, Inc., (AUS) Final Assembly Line (FAL).

Initially responsible for current expansion project management, scheduling, and budget, assuring the successful integration of upgrades to the FAL, including its readiness, to support the next generation ARROW-450 bus platform, mission areas, and future capabilities. Manages all parties to expansion project including external sub-contractors in construction and infrastructure implementation. Accountable for ensuring cooperation with Operations, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Security, Supply Chain Management, and Engineering teams.

Position Responsibilities

Related to Upgrades

  • Defines and scopes upgrade parameters as required to support new business. Contributes to complete assessment of upgrade financing.
  • Ensures requirements, milestones, timelines, and resources are clearly defined and identified for all assigned projects.
  • Operates within allocated schedules and budgets for improvements. Defines schedule breakdown, aligns predecessors and successors, and identifies major milestones.
  • Leads integrated project teams to support future business and factory readiness.
  • Manages and coordinates projects expansion projects as main interface between matrixed organizations, construction contractors, and AUS.
  • Updates project plan and informs senior management regularly on expenditures, completion of tasks and attainment of milestones, schedule and/or budget risk, and risk mitigation adjustments.
  • Ensures proper security and IT protocols are in place during execution of project.
  • Identifies and mitigates execution risks in conjunction with FAL management.

Related to On-Going Operations

  • Maintains network of liaison relationships across the matrixed organization.
  • Facilitates communication between FAL management and Programs, Operations, Security, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Security, Supply Chain Management, and Engineering.
  • Monitors manufacturing schedule alignment with business demands for intelligence about potential process or capacity enhancements.
  • Oversees projects integrated into day-to-day operations within the FAL. Including:
    • Short- and long-term planning (FAL capacity for future business);
    • Modifications or upgrades to existing stations; and
    • Inclusion of security requirements on built as-is ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Monitors reported metrics related to production efficiency for early detection of needs.
  • Coordinates with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) to develop safety improvement projects.

Related to Bid Support

  • Identifies variances to budget and their causes in prior projects to inform future bids.
  • Supports Airbus U.S bids & proposals through competitive request for proposals.

Related to Strategic Planning

  • Contributes project perspective to development and maintenance of the technical roadmap for the Space Equipment and Infrastructure Group.
  • Ensures that quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering/Science-related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering/Science-related field or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience:

  • Required
    • Proven record of achievement in one of the following disciplines: Program Management, Construction Management, or Operations
    • 10 years' experience in the Construction, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Industry with continual growth in responsibility.
    • Development of secure spaces required
    • Experience with ICD 705 and the NISPOM
    • Experience managing teams implementing NIST 800-53 Controls
    • Experience in satellite Program/Construction Management, Manufacturing and/or Test preferred
    • Knowledge of processes, requirements management and engineering and project life cycles and their application.
    • Experience delivering within a multi-functional and/or multinational teams to achieve our goals.
    • Experience delivering improvement actions/projects
  • Preferred
    • Experience with EGSE configuration, maintenance, and network development
    • Experience on a manufacturing or integration floor
    • 3 years in a management role and proven track record of achievement in Engineering, Operations, or Quality environment with Change Management leadership in Continuous Improvement
    • Contracting experience
    • Understanding the full lifecycle of a construction process from architecture through Certificate of Occupancy
    • Working with Government and regulatory bodies

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to summarize complex industrial situations in a clear manner.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Team player to collaborate with lines of business and functional partners like IT, Finance, HR, Contracts, etc
  • Demonstrated capability to distill and articulate complex Federal regulations and internal Engineering/Quality requirements for shop floor execution and executive awareness

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Software fluency in MS Office Products, including proficiency with Teams
  • SAP
  • Jira
  • PLM / configuration management tool
  • Sharepoint

Travel Required:

  • Up to 20-30% Domestic & International travel required

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
  • Active DoD security clearance at Top Secret/SCI preferred

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 20lbs/9kg
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.
