Position Summary:

This position promotes Airbus equities to maintain and expand business with the US Army, US Army National Guard, and international customers in the space of rotorcraft and unmanned systems. The position is responsible for initiating, developing, refining, implementing, and presenting comprehensive plans and presentations based on a strategic approach, supporting tactics, and interaction with customers, using key levers such as budget and requirements. Significantly, this position is charged with engaging government offices and government stakeholders that influence opportunities (requirement, budget, acquisition, etc). Key offices include but are not limited to PEO Aviation, AMCOM, INRAP (MASPO), AFC Cross Functional Teams, USASAC and other relevant stakeholders as required. This position represents Airbus at the variety of professional gatherings in the Huntsville area and includes travel to other Aviation focused conferences, and international tradeshows as directed.

Primary Responsibilities:1. Create plans and implement business development efforts with Redstone Arsenal key stakeholders 40%
  • Support the Lakota, USMC and UAS Program Teams as directed.
  • Anticipate and remain cognizant of key Service budget activities and deadlines and their impact on Lakota and other product offerings as required.
2. Identify US international sales opportunities, manage key stakeholders and develop/manage capture strategies 40%
  • Leverage a wide variety of information sources to identify potential US international sales opportunities, including feedback from Airbus in-country sales managers
  • Develop tailored strategies to achieve success for each opportunity, based on technical requirements, funding sources, schedule, and political
  • Identify and leverage sales tools, to include support from US stakeholders
  • Ensure strong coordination with across all stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Engage with in-country US government personnel and organizations to promote sales opportunities (ambassador, attaché, ODC,)
  • Engage with stateside DoD stakeholders such as DASA DE&C, USASAC, SAF/IA, INRAP
  • Engage with end customer as needed under the auspices of the broader Airbus local sales managers

3. Key Account Manager - Other Army TDA (Lakota): 10%

  • Conduct periodic site visits with Other Army TDA locations including the National Training Center, Joint Readiness Training Center, Joint Multinational Readiness Center, APG, West Point and the Kwajalein
  • Support the Lakota program team as required on matters related to supporting Other Army TDA locations
4. Network and Alignment with Airbus: 10%
  • Develop understanding of Airbus international sales structure, stakeholders, and processes
  • Develop a personal network with key internal and affiliate stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment of go/no-go decisions to pursue sales opportunities
  • Promote transparency throughout the process; provide clear flow of information
  • Participate in company seminars, working groups, and recurring meetings as required
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Airbus Government Relations in Washington and the wider military team, including periodic physical visits

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, communications or similar related field
  • Preferred: Master's or higher degree in management, engineering, communications or similar related field
Experience:
  • Required: minimum 15 years' experience in business development and /or sales (or Army Aviation service with relevant senior level experience)
  • Preferred:
    • Previous aerospace industry experience strongly desirable
    • HQDA, TRADOC, Acquisition, or other equivalent staff level experience with specific experience in aviation portfolio management, requirements development, and program management strongly desired
    • Foreign Military Sales experience strongly desired

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Required: Superior written and spoken communications skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to maintain effective relationships/ communication with internal and external customers, excellent leadership and supervisory skills; experience in and knowledge of U.S. government interagency policy making and budget allocation is required; ability to effectively work within a matrix organization; ability to effectively work at remote sites; demonstrated experience managing and/or developing business.
  • Preferred: deep knowledge of HQDA, ASA(ALT), OSD, and sister service PPBES organizations and culture; demonstrated success implementing new business strategies and/or technical and/or operational knowledge and experience in aviation

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • SAP, Microsoft Office Suite

Travel Required:

  • 30% Domestic and International
