JOB SUMMARY:

The Structures Shop Lead Technician will maintain, repair, and inspect aircraft to ensure safe operations within guidelines set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Structures Shop Lead Technician operates as a supervisor with assigned direct reports with corresponding supervisory responsibilities in addition to the standard structure components duties and responsibilities.

REPORTS TO:

The Structures Shop Lead Technician reports directly to the Director of Maintenance

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trains current and new staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance input

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all Federal, Airside MRO, and OSHA regulations where applicable.
  • Be a working lead, in that, he/she will also be responsible for completing assigned jobs and meeting deadlines
  • Perform in-process inspections on those items being worked by his/her mechanics in the Structures Shop
  • Reports directly to the Director of Maintenance regarding production matters related to the Structures Shop
  • Provide training assessments to Director of Maintenance and VP of Operations in order to provide targeted training/recurrent training to the technicians assigned to him/her
  • Provide technical assistance to those technicians assigned under him/her
  • Responsible to the Director of Maintenance for accurate reporting of current status of open work orders assigned to his/her area and technicians
  • Assisting the mechanics assigned to him/her in meeting deadlines
  • Assigning/reassigning work to his/her mechanics based on customer/Airside needs
  • Ensures his/her technicians follow all proper FAA, EASA, Airside MRO, and Customer guidelines while performing maintenance
  • Ensure his/her technicians perform maintenance in accordance with all safety procedures outlined by Airside MRO
  • Contribute to the process of performing employee evaluations for those employees assigned to him/her
  • Run the component shop
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
  • Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A&P license preferred
  • Part 145 Repair Station experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces
  • Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders
  • Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds at a time
  • Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools or make adjustments and repairs
  • Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects
