AIS Construction Equipment is the oldest Michigan-owned and operated heavy equipment company in the state and has been serving customers for over 60 years. We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our Human Resources team in our Grand Rapids Corporate Office!

This role includes understanding the employer’s business objectives and being able to actively assist in the research, development, effectiveness of individuals and teams, and implementation and evaluation of policies, programs, and practices to support the effective use of personnel within an organization and maintain the AIS corporate culture of excellence and high performance.

Candidate should possess the following characteristics:

Primary duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates onboarding process, including background checks, pre-employment screenings, and all new hire paperwork.
  • Terminates employee files, including sending necessary life insurance continuation notices.
  • Timely coordinates FMLA, Short Term Disability, and other leaves as appropriate.
  • Processes Worker’s Compensation Injury claims including review of claims, and assurance that claims are turned in and paid.
  • Assists with Annual Benefits Open Enrollment.
  • Acts as the Payroll back-up.
  • Responds to unemployment claims as needed.
  • Assists with the development of regular Newsletter content.
  • Assists with the organization of special events for the corporate team when requested.
  • Taking letters, creating charts, booking and confirming travel arrangements, and anticipating and meeting administrative needs of ownership through the use of various resources.

Experience:

  • Previous HR experience is helpful.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in an office environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
