Job Purpose
The Plant Manager is responsible for safe, efficient and compliant operations that meet customer and business requirements through direct involvement and leadership of the plant. It is the role of the Plant Manager to optimize the performance of plant operations by directing all activities, implementing and maintaining safe, efficient processes, ensuring proper training and development of the workforce, ensuring compliance with all internal policies and procedures and with all legal requirements, providing leadership and motivation, and executing all functions within the Plant in a manner which meets or exceeds Customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in the development of business objectives and plans which support the business strategy and communicates the strategy and objectives to plant personnel.
Plan, organize, direct and run effective day-to-day operations to meet or exceed required deliverables, including product quality, on-time delivery, reduction of excess overtime and optimization of waste reduction.
Implement a Lean strategy and establish an operational plan to achieve lean processes and lean operating practices.
Establish achievable Process Efficiency KPI’s and develop production systems, manufacturing methods, and standardized processes to drive optimal results.
Engage plant personnel in business objectives and provides a culture which encourages employees to operate in a self-directed team environment.
Deliver measurable processes for continuous improvement in manufacturing performance and monitor outcomes.
Assess performance on an ongoing basis in alignment with customer and financial goals.
Lead strategic initiatives, growth and high impact projects.
Lead discussions regarding operational performance and present opportunities for cost reduction, product improvement and issue resolution.
Develop a positive team environment which places value on mutual trust, respect, fairness, teamwork and communication.
Ensure inventory requirements for effective operation which reduces unnecessary excess, and results in 100% customer order fulfillment.
Education, Knowledge and Skills
Bachelors in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
At least five years’ experience in block, wall or paver plant in an Operations/Manufacturing leadership role in a manufacturing environment
Proven track record of successfully leading employees in a self-directed, team environment with a focus on employee development, employee accountability and recognition for high performance.
Strong business acumen, strategic, planning, critical thinking, resource allocation, and budgeting.
Demonstrated ability to operate with integrity, build trust and keep commitments
Demonstrated ability to represent the company with professionalism and integrity in all matters.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including Word and Excel.
Experience with INFOR or Syteline a plus.
