AKS Engineering & Forestry is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Tualatin, OR

Job Summary:
AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an immediate opening for a full-time senior accountant who would thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, team-oriented office in Tualatin, Oregon. Reporting directly to the financial controller this career-building role will be responsible for full charge accounting and be able to lead closing processes while providing support in preparing financial statements. Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or business with an emphasis in accounting, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a general ledger accountant and/or full charge bookkeeper or equivalent progressive experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard general ledger processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated strength in analysis, communication, and reporting through Excel and financial software.
  • Experience with BST 10, or similar ERP software.
  • Experience with system conversions, data extraction, data mapping, and reading specifications outlined for data migrations highly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, and other applications.
  • Familiarity with engineering, architecture, construction, or similar professional service industries.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and professional.
  • Demonstrated strength in customer service.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and understanding of business processes.
  • Ability to ensure personal accountability to complete accurate, quality work within budgets, work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work on-site at the corporate office located in Tualatin, Oregon.
  • Must be able to work overtime on a regular basis particularly during month-end.
Job Functions & Responsibilities: As a vital member of our versatile accounting and finance team, you will:
  • Execute comprehensive accounting functions with precision, including understanding, articulating, interpreting, and performing full charge accounting duties
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries and accounts reconciliations ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial standards
  • Demonstrate adeptness in researching and resolving reconciliation issues, with a focus on navigating and interpreting data with extensive volumes of systems-generated accounting transactions
  • Actively engage in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by completing assigned journal entries according to established schedules
  • Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations to uphold financial integrity and accuracy
  • Ensure accuracy of coding, data entry, and processing of Accounts Payable and Receivable and Assets management.
  • Analyze and evaluate accounting data, providing insights and recommendations for best practices and strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, process improvement, and best practices to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide backup support for the Accounting Manager and/or Financial Controller as needed, ensuring continuity and reliability in financial operations.
  • Foster effective collaboration with various departments including billing, facilities, IT, marketing, and company leadership.
  • Prioritize client service excellence by promptly addressing inquiries and requests from both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive attitude
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to insurance, liens, and collections as requested
  • Undertake and successfully complete projects and special assignments as delegated, showcasing adaptability and dedication to organizational goals
