Position Summary
Salary : Based on education and experience commensurate with Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule D1 ($59,778-$121,125). This is a twelve-month position.
This is a full-time position with administrative and teaching responsibilities for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program that includes all responsibilities of a full-time instructor and additional responsibilities related to the administration, and supervision of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. This position will also supervise clinical learning experiences, evaluate student achievement, develop curriculum, formulate policies and procedures, and evaluate program effectiveness. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Health-Related Programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to those essential job functions defined in the Instructor Job Description, the Program Director, Physical Therapist Assistant Program must also fulfill the following job functions:
1. Develop and implement the Physical Therapist Assistant Program curriculum (traditional and hybrid tracks) within the guidelines of the division and college.
2. Develop policies regarding admission, progression, and graduation of students in the program with the approval of the Associate Dean of Health-Related Programs and/or the Dean of Instruction.
3. Develop advising materials and provide academic advising to pre-program and program students.
4. Supervise the admission of students to the program according to approved guidelines and admission criteria.
5. Work cooperatively with the PTA program Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education to develop and maintain contractual agreements and working relationships between the college and agencies utilized for clinical instruction.
6. Maintain program laboratories to provide a safe and effective learning environment.
7. Propose and coordinate the scheduling of program courses within division and college guidelines.
8. Maintain record keeping processes for students and graduates of the program according to college and division policies and within legal guidelines.
9. Evaluate records of students for completion of requirements for graduation from the program and for eligibility to apply to take the national physical therapy examination for physical therapist assistants.
10. Recommend members for appointment to the Program Advisory Committee and coordinate the activities of the Committee when appropriate.
11. Maintain open communication with the Associate Dean of Health-Related Programs and with other faculty and students in the program.
12. Identify operational unit priorities and propose an annual budget for the program.
13. Request purchase of up-to-date materials for the Learning Resource Center.
14. Maintain a quality Physical Therapist Assistant Program that meets the standards for approval by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association.
15. Evaluate the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at regular intervals, including completing annual program reviews, follow-up studies of graduates, self studies, and other reports to document program status.
16. Maintain professional credentials and participate in activities of professional organizations and in continuing education programs.
17. Work cooperatively with other faculty of other programs within the Health-Related Programs Division.
18. Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies needed for physical therapy labs/classes.

19. Serve on Division and College committees as requested.

20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education : A minimum of a master's degree in physical therapy. Graduate of an accredited physical therapist program or deemed equivalent program required.
Experience : (a) A minimum of five years (or equivalent), full time, post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within any United States district.
(b) Experience in classroom, lab, or clinical teaching.
(c) Experience in administration, management, and leadership. Experience derived from the clinic is acceptable.
(d) Professional development or education in all the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.
Licenses : Holds an active, unencumbered PT license in the state of Alabama and is in compliance with the practice act.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. Tuition Assistance
