ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will work with students to provide in-depth psychological services with the goal of helping students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Professionals in this position are tasked with successfully providing individual and group counseling services while maintaining documentation of direct services. This position will be responsible for intervention as it relates to the implementation and evaluation of programs to promote positive learning environments for all students from diverse backgrounds and to ensure equal access to effective educational and psychological services that promote positive mental health development.

You will utilize your expertise to provide counseling, mentoring, and instructional services to help promote wellness by reinforcing strong communication, problem-solving, anger management, self-regulation, and/or social skills. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s degree or higher in the area of Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related degree
· Licensure or Certification by appropriate licensing/certification boards such as Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC], national Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), National Certified Counselor [NCC], Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent.
· Three years of successful work experience in the field of Psychology or Counseling.
· Three years of experience in working with individuals who are Deaf and/or Blind.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Five years of successful work experience in the field of Psychology or Counseling.
· Five years of experience in working with individuals who are Deaf and/or Blind.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Must effectively work with Deaf, Blind, and Deaf-Blind individuals and the general population.
· An ability to adapt counseling methods for use with individuals with a sensory loss.
· Must professionally collaborate with parents and staff on a consultative basis.
· Successfully incorporate counseling skills and methods in a practical manner.
· Appropriately address cultural issues within the counseling context.
· Collaborates with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) and other community agencies.
· Uphold the professionalism and ethical standards of psychologists/counselors.
· Acts as an advocate for students.
· Acts as coordinator in sharing and interpreting information about student's needs and concerns as related to psychological issues within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
· Engages in professional growth and development activities.
· Responds to crises in accordance with AIDB guidelines (includes willingness to be called after hours in case of emergency).
· Demonstrates an ability to organize and complete tasks on a timely basis.
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
· Performs other duties, including cross-campus responsibilities, as assigned by the Director of Psychology.
· Must complete a Deaf-Blind Multi-Disabilities e-learning course within the first TWELVE (12) months of employment.
· Must possess a minimum sign language proficiency of within six (6) months of employment. must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment. must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
SALARY: $55,108 - $75,699
230 Days
Direct deposit required.
