Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world’s most comprehensive education, rehabilitation and service program serving individuals of all ages who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind and multidisabled and their families. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Must hold certifications or be able to obtain within twelve (12) months on the following platforms: JAWS, ZoomText, and NVDA.
· Must hold or be able to obtain certification in the area of Assistive Technology within twelve (12) months of hire.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively through interpersonal, verbal and written
· communication.
· Minimum one (1) year of experience in the use of assistive technology for individuals who are
· blind, low vision, deaf, hard of hearing, and/or deaf/blind.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Orientation and Mobility training required within twelve (12) months of hire.
· Must learn Braille, including becoming a National Library of Congress certified Braille
· Transcriptionist within the first thirty (36) months of employment.
· Perform assistive technology service to include assessments, onsite visits to evaluate
installation, technical support, and training.
· Must be able to travel to appointments and be willing to work a variety of hours, including
evenings and weekends in order to meet the requirements of our students
· Must be able to work collaboratively with the ASB Braille instructor.
· Other duties as assigned.
