Alabama Space is Hiring a FULL-TIME FOOD SERVICE CREW MEMBER Near Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities

Food Service General Operations

  1. Meet or exceed regulatory and professional standards for the cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas and equipment.
  2. Promptly acknowledge guests, trainees, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
  3. Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests’ questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision and Spirit of the USSRC.
  4. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Food Service Management Team for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.
  5. Cash Register Operations
  6. Ensure that register money is retrieved, delivered and handled in accordance with written procedures while working in the Cafeteria, Grill or in a food service refreshment cart.
  7. Operate cash register in an accurate, effective and efficient manner so as to ensure that there is no delay in service to guests, trainees or employees.
  8. Ensure that all money is secure and monitored at all times.
  9. Balance cash register at the end of shift and transport to Cash Control in an accurate and timely manner.

Food Preparation

  1. Perform any and all food preparation duties as assigned in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with expected numbers of guests; such as breakfast, lunch and dinner preparations, panning up biscuits, sausage, waffles, preparing pizza, cutting fruit, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, speciality sandwiches, etc…
  2. Cafeteria Line Operations
  3. Ensure the accurate and timely set-up & breakdown of the cafeteria work areas. Work includes, but is not limited to: serving lines, salad bar, beverage service, disposables & condiments, dining tables & chairs.
  4. Ensure that the Camp Line has adequate supplies necessary to conduct daily operations.
  5. Meet or exceed the expectations of Food Service Management Team for the accurate and timely balancing of cash registers.
  6. Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests’ questions and complaints promptly and in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision, and Spirit of the USSRC.
  7. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Food Service Management Team for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments

Employee is responsible for working in a safe manner and keeping his/her workplace safe.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: Completion of High School or G.E.D. required.

Preferred Education and Experience: Previous cashier experience strongly desired. Some experience (0-3 months) in a food service environment desired. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Must be able to interact with guests, trainees and employees effectively and in a courteous, professional manner. 

Other Requirements:

Physical Requirements of the Position: This position has the following special requirements:

  • Walking to access other departments and areas of the Food Service Department.
  • Standing for long periods of time (4-6 hrs.) or for duration of shift operating cash register on concrete floor. 
  • Pushing, carrying, lifting items, equipment, supplies up to 40 lbs. waist high.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching to store & retrieve supplies and equipment.
  • Reading, sight wrist movements, feeling to operate cash register, handle money.
  • Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, guests and employees.

This position involves working in a climate controlled environment. This position may involve working in a kitchen that is subject to changing temperatures. This position deals extensively with the general public and employees throughout the organization who interact with assigned area of responsibility.
