Duties & Responsibilities: The Business Management & Administration Teacher will have the
Following Responsibilities:
  • Delivery of a curriculum/program of study developed by the state and county in the
specialization to which the teacher is assigned.
  • Delivery of courses in business administration and management which will provide an
overview of career opportunities available in every sector of the economy and require
specific skills in organization, time management, customer services, communication, and
effective technology.
  • Delivery of courses in business information technology which will provide specific skills
in basic computer programming, print and digital media, information management, and
other effective uses of technology.
  • Delivery of courses in pursuing careers in management that will provide an overview of
career opportunities that include specific skills needed in planning, organizing, directing,
and evaluating all or part of a business organization through allocation and the use of
financial, human, and material resources, and effective usage of technology.
  • Delivery of rigorous instruction to equip learners with the knowledge and skills for
college and career readiness/workforce and/or society.
  • Completion of high-quality professional development/training or certification in the
assigned area.
  • Monitor student progress toward mastery of the instructional goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with the students, educational community/other stakeholders,
and parents on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the processes of placement, job shadowing, and job training for all
students.
  • Maintain inventory of all forms of technology assigned to the program.
Assist students in making an occupational choice according to their aptitudes, academic
preparation, and experiences.
  • Recruit prospective students in the program.
  • Implement the activities/standards/objectives required by the State Department of
Education's Career and Technical Education Policies and Procedures Manual and the
Sumter County Board of Education.
  • Complete and submit all reports and documents/requirements in a timely manner as required by
law, the ALSDE and SCBOE.
  • Complete all teaching obligations/requirements in a professional and collaborative manner.
  • Teach effectively according to the needs of the learners by making the necessary
accommodations and modifications.
  • Provide industry recognized credentials.
  • Guide students in making career-related decisions and assist them in obtaining employment.
  • Form partnerships with industries while enhancing students' awareness of the industries'
employment needs, career options/demands and requirements.
  • Complete the Tools for Assessing Program Effectives (TAPE) requirements for program
compliance as outlined by the ALSDE.
  • Complete the ALSDE Teacher's Certification Program.
  • Promote Career Tech Student Organizations (CTSOs).
  • Communicate to parents/guardians the progress and/or deficiencies of students.
  • Supervise students at all times in accordance with the state and school policies.
  • Attend professional development/mentoring/learning sessions for professional growth,
to fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required
trainings/sessions/programs.
  • Complete all assignments and duties as designated by the principal/administrator, in a timely
manner.
  • Solve problems, follow protocol, and communicate effectively with the administrator, counselor,
parents and staff members concerning students' progress and needs.
  • Knowledge of the subject area(s) appropriate for the class being taught and current practices in
the industry.
  • Establish appropriate learning goals and objectives, as well as effective lesson plans to engage all
of the learners.
  • Operate within a defined budget and follow financial guidelines.
  • Develop and implement a program of work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/administrator.
