Alabama State Department of Education is Hiring a Child Nutrition Manager Near Centre, AL

Child Nutrition Program Manager - 9 Month (182 Day) Contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
  • Good physical and emotional health including the ability to perform duties described in Essential Functions.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Current ServSafe Certification.
  • Food Service Managerial Experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 40 lbs. unassisted; Work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time; Walk, balance, bend, and kneel.
  • Computer literate, ability to use basic software such as Word Office, check and send email, and satisfactorily operate a POS system.
  • Capable of being trained in safe food handling techniques.
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Capability to maintain emotional control and possess good conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment which may include conditions such as slippery surfaces, use of chemicals, exposure to common food allergens, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: School Administrator, Child Nutrition Program Director

JOB GOAL:

Effectively and efficiently manages the Child Nutrition Program. Demonstrates excellent customer service while preparing food that is attractive and nutritious and complies with state and USDA standards, and serves meals in a
friendly and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains orderly, safe, and sanitary conditions in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Orders and determines quantities of foods to be prepared daily according to standardized menus and the planned menu supplied by the CNP Director. Receives and verifies these orders accurately and in a timely manner and reports any discrepancies to the appropriate person.
  • Reports any problems or on the job injuries occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria to the School Administrator and CNP Director. Collaborates with these individuals regarding personnel problems or conflicts.
  • Maintains working knowledge of kitchen equipment and alerts the Maintenance Supervisor and CNP Director of any non-working equipment.
  • Trains and supervises staff in order to achieve efficiency in food preparation, service, and replenishment of the serving line. Coordinates food preparation for timely meal service. Directs disposal and storage of leftover items.
  • Follows all verbal and written instructions and ensures that CNP staff are aware of these orders and comply.
  • Promotes good public relations and provides cordial and professional service.
  • Maintains records as required by the Child Nutrition Program.
  • Displays good personal grooming and appropriate dress for food service and enforces compliance among CNP staff.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Understands and complies with Cherokee County Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues, records, student eligibility, and school related information.
  • Works toward and achieves Professional Development Hours in compliance with state and USDA Professional Standards in Child Nutrition requirements and attends required training. Assists staff in meeting these requirements and provides training when directed.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 Salary based on salary schedule as set by the Board of Education

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy and evaluations may be performed by the School Administrator and/or Child Nutrition Program Director.

Salary Range: According to Cherokee County Schools Salary Schedule.
