JOB DESCRIPTION

• Child Nutrition Program Assistant (CNP Worker)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience in school food services preferred
• Food Safety Training preferred
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations

REPORTS TO:

• Child Nutrition Program Manager

JOB GOAL:

• To assist in the maintenance of an efficient and sanitary Child Nutrition Program, including but not limited to, food preparation, food storage, food service, kitchen/cafeteria maintenance, and record keeping

• The Cafeteria Assistant shall fulfill all duties assigned by the Colbert County Board of Education and directed by the State Superintendent of Education in accordance with State and Local Board Policies, State and Federal Statutes

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform work in the school food service facility in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures
• Prepare and serve food as assigned
• Perform custodial, dish room, serving area, and/or storeroom duties as assigned
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and work safety
• Operate and maintain food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner
• Maintain an effective working relationship with the manager and other employees
• Provide cordial and professional service to students and others
• Work in any position in the department as directed by the manager
• Direct and supervise the work of others as assigned by the manager
• Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators, and other contact persons using tact and good judgment
• Follow attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules
• Ensure adherence to good safety standards
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters
• Model and maintain high ethical standards
• Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
• Maintain expertise in assigned areas to fulfill project goals and objectives
• Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment
• Keep the supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events
• Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
• Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member
• Demonstrate support for the school system and its goals and priorities
• Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement
• Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan; Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system

EVALUATION:

• TheCNP Director will evaluate in accordance with the support personnel evaluation procedure, with input from the school principal
