Position: Director of Development

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Supervisor: Executive Director

Overview:

The Alabama Wildlife Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Director of Development. This role is pivotal in advancing the organization's mission of wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, and education by securing funding through philanthropic partnerships and successful grant applications. 

Duties: 

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the Alabama Wildlife Center's programs and initiatives.

• Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other funding sources to secure financial support.

• Identify and pursue grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and other grant-making organizations aligned with the organization's mission.

• Lead the grant application process, including research, writing, and submission of proposals, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and deadlines.

• Collaborate with staff to gather relevant data, stories, and outcomes for use in grant proposals and reports.

• Maintain accurate records of all fundraising activities, donor interactions, and grant submissions using a donor management system.

• Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and donor engagement activities to cultivate relationships and solicit support.

• Provide regular reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on fundraising progress, donor trends, and grant outcomes.

• Stay informed about trends and best practices in philanthropy, grant-making, and nonprofit management to continually improve fundraising strategies.

• Represent the Alabama Wildlife Center at networking events, conferences, and community meetings to promote awareness of the organization and its impact.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

• 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.

• Excellent relationship-building and networking abilities, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate and steward donor relationships.

• Passion for wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship.
