The award-winning Alameda County Information Technology Department (ITD) is hiring a Network Services Manager.
DESPCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the oversight of the Alameda County data network. The role involves guiding the team responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the network to ensure its efficiency, security, and reliability. Key responsibilities include developing strategic direction, key processes and managing solution implementations pertaining to the Alameda County network. It also requires experience managing network performance, issue troubleshooting and maintenance. The qualified candidate will have knowledge and experience with network security architecture and security solutions. The network manager communicates and coordinates with staff, peers, executive management, customers, and vendors. The manager also develops and enforces policies and processes related to the County network. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless network operations and supporting the organization’s technological needs.
Job Duties include:
1. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned group; assigns and delegates projects to appropriate staff.
2. Supervises and conducts performance evaluations, conducts regular staff meetings and other personnel activities and transactions.
3. Provides for the training, motivation and evaluation of staff.
4. Makes recommendations on the hiring of staff for systems under their direction.
5. Provides oversight and monitoring to given production system or project.
6. Recommends and presents new technologies and strategic direction to executive management.
7. Meets with representatives from other County departments to analyze departmental business requirements.
8. Develops large scale and complex project plans, assigns staff, controls the timeline and resources of all projects under supervision.
9. Monitors the daily maintenance of all production systems under direction; monitors analysis of maintenance status and interprets problems and/or issues that arise with the daily maintenance of all production systems; ensures all production systems are functional with all other systems in use.
10. Reviews any system problems and assigns appropriate staff to maintain each production system.
11. Adjusts priorities of staff assignments to meet users needs and priorities
12. Acts as liaison with vendors and contractors; communicates information to staff; executive management and production staff as vendor’s point of contact; manages vendor and contractor relations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either I
The equivalent of two years of full-time experience in the class of Infrastructure Services Engineer or an equivalent higher-level class in the Alameda County classified service supervising technical staff.
Or II
The equivalent of five years of full-time increasingly responsible infrastructure experience (in one or more of the areas described in the Description section) that included documentation and project management and at least three years of direct supervision and workload management of technical staff. (Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of technical experience.)
