Alamo Concrete Products Company, ACP, is headquartered in San Antonio, TX with 8 Divisions throughout the Greater Central/South Texas Region. ACP produces and delivers concrete and operates Aggregate Quarries that supply concrete batch plants.

Project Engineer Description

The role of the Project Engineer is to provide engineering support services for all Divisions that encompasses a range of activities from minor and major maintenance projects at the plant locations as well as capital expansion projects.

The candidate will be part of an efficient Engineering team that is responsible for managing engineering capital projects, providing maintenance and troubleshooting support to sites as well as managing the Environmental program.

It is preferred that the candidate has practical experience working in the Ready-Mix Concrete and Aggregate Industry. The individual should possess a general knowledge of Concrete Plant process systems and equipment that include but may not be limited to air compressors, conveyors, weigh scales, venting equipment, instrumentation, electrical power distribution, basic motor controls, batching control cabinets, admixture dispensers, et cetera.

Consideration will be given for knowledge in other sectors that involve engineering, maintenance, and construction of light/heavy Industrial manufacturing facilities.

The candidate will assist as needed in activities associated with maintaining Environmental compliance at site locations. Familiarity with the TCEQ and air quality permitting process is a plus but not required.

We are looking for a strong candidate who takes direction well, flexible and willing to take on any task, and who can complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Good communications skills, the ability to manage your time effectively, and the ability to work with little supervision are all vital skills needed.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Overnight travel required at times
• Occasional weekend work may be required influenced by project constraints
• Project development including site engineering, preparing cost estimates, scheduling and coordination
• Specifying and Procurement of plant equipment
• Onsite project management and supervision of contractors at site locations
•  Ensure contractors are compliant with Alamo Concrete, OSHA, and MSHA safety requirements
• Troubleshoot plant equipment and operational issues
• Assistance in tracking and reporting water usage to various agencies
• Participating in various tasks to obtain necessary permits from the TCEQ as well as from Federal and Local regulatory agencies 
•  Annual site inspections of ready mixed concrete plant and quarry locations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or related field of study
• Consideration will be giving to the right candidate with 5 years’ experience and some college course work
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus
• General knowledge of MSHA and OSHA safety regulations
• Competent computer skills with proficiency in MS office platform
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills
• EIT Certificate or Texas PE License preferred
• NRMCA Plant Inspector Certification is a plus
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
