About the Team

The Residential team provides mental health residential treatment for adults with acute mental health needs who have not responded to outpatient treatment, have needs that cannot be met in a less-restrictive setting, or would benefit from further treatment following inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The team provides medication services and individual and group services with a focus on skill development including communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution; life and social skills to restore functioning; and self-regulation, anger management, and other mood management skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to assessment & service planning, individual & group skill building, crisis management, rehab services, knowledge of resources, and connect clients, as well as other support services efficiently
  • Act as a role model to persons in recovery to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery
  • Share information on the mental health center’s philosophy, procedures, policies, and treatment modalities in order to help prospective clients, interested citizens, or ongoing clients make treatment decisions, set appropriate goals, or better understand the functions of the Agency

  • Position is based in Anchorage, Alaska
  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt
  • Pay Range is $19.23 to $24.89 depending on experience. This position is eligible for a $500 sign on bonus and annual incentive opportunities up to $4,000!
  • AKBH offers generous benefits including two healthcare options for employees and their dependent children; voluntary vision and dental insurance; employer provided life insurance/AD&D and long-term disability; Five (5) weeks of PTO for the first year; eight (8) weeks of PTO after the first year. PTO is used for company recognized holidays. 401k with immediate vesting and up to 5% match, 4% automatically contributed by AKBH.

What We Need from You

  • You have a high school diploma or GED
  • You have personal life experience in recovery from mental illness, or substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders and are comfortable sharing your personal life experiences surrounding recovery in a way that offers support to those you will serve
  • You have one to two years of volunteer or work experience in the mental health and/or substance abuse fields and are willing to become Peer Certified as part of your initial onboarding
