Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act. SummaryUnder direct supervision the Anesthesia Technician will be responsible for performing various anesthesia specialized treatment procedures that will significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of further processes associated with the anesthetic course of the patient across the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The position will support the Anesthesia Department.
ResponsibilitiesP rovides assistance to Anesthesiologists/CRNA’s during patient induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia.
P rovides diagnostic and treatment services during regular recurring critical care situations: set up, check, inspect, maintain and calibrate a variety of anesthesia equipment.
A pplies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning and sterilizing and/or disposal of equipment/supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
S ets up sterile equipment such as intravenous, central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters using sterile technique.
R esponsible for stocking and maintaining supplies utilized by the Anesthesia department including organizing and maintaining stock levels in the Anesthesia workroom, working closely with the supply department and maintaining par levels, and adding and deleting supplies. Participate in the preparation of various supplies such as arterial lines and central line kits.
R esponsible for maintaining the Anesthesia department’s equipment including operations, troubleshooting, cleaning, basic maintenance, calibrations, testing, recording of inspections, and point of care testing.
A ssist in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as needed. Ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift.
E nsures that equipment, supplies and medication are available at each operating room location.
A ssists with procuring and return of monitoring equipment used during the transport of patients from the operating room to ICU’s or other locations.
U tilizes proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self or others.
W orks closely with others in collaborative manner to prepare the patient for surgery .
P erforms other job related duties as assigned.
Other InformationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of the English language including the rules of composition and grammar.
Knowledge of applicable federal/state laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and other operational guidelines and directives.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A nesthesia Technician I
H igh School Diploma or GED equivalent and documenting completion of a course in medical terminology.
A nesthesia Technician II
A ssociate’s Degree from an accredited college or suitable combination of education and experience.
A nesthesia Technician III
B achelor’s Degree from an accredited college or suitable combination of education and experience. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
mInimum Experience QualificationA nesthesia Technician I
T wo (2) years of supply experience in acute care setting.
A nesthesia Technician II
Non-supervisory – Four (4) years of responsible Anesthesia Technician or Technologist experience.
A nesthesia Technician III
Non-supervisory – Eight (8) years of responsible Anesthesia Technician or Technologist experience.
MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
A nesthesia Technician II/III
B asic Life Support (BLS)
