Salary: 85,822.34-107,268.59 :USD

The Center for Environmentally Threatened Communities is recruiting a motivated, relationship-oriented leader who is passionate about assisting rural Alaska Native communities to realize their visions for a healthy, vibrant future. This new position will support communities with holistic climate adaptation planning from establishing a vision of the future to identifying actionable steps towards achieving that vision. Duties include project management, community planning, community engagement, and coordination with federal and state partners.

Summary:
Under general direction, provides planning, project development, and project management services to Alaska communities to adapt to climate change.

Responsibilities:

All

S upports communities to develop and implement climate adaptation and hazard mitigation projects and programs in collaboration with other Federal, State, and Tribal partners. Supports community planning, including the development of climate adaptation strategies, adaptation plans, and integration of climate adaptation actions into other plans.

D evelops and manages community climate adaptation projects in collaboration with community staff and leadership, agencies, consultants, and other project management staff. Develops and implements assessments, surveys, data collection, data analysis, and monitoring for a variety of ANTHC and community climate adaptation initiatives.

S erves as the technical point of contact with multiple communities to provide climate adaptation planning and science recommendations for a variety of projects. Provides technical assistance, direction, and guidance to communities, Tribal organizations, and other teams on planning, project development, design, and construction activities.

C ollaborates with communities to understand community needs and priorities. Develops scopes of work and cost estimates for climate adaptation projects. Works collaboratively with communities, partners, and ANTHC’s Grant Planning and Development Department to identify project funding sources, secure project funding, and manage funding.

R eviews and approves standard cooperative project agreements and develops project work plans. Schedules and adjusts project activities as necessary to accommodate changing conditions.

E stablishes and manages consultant contracts to meet schedules. Develops and maintains required project documentation, tracks project progress using standardized project management tools, completes progress reports for external funding agencies. Monitors quality control/quality assurance for all project related activities. Develops, manages, and monitors project budgets and contracts.

R eviews and approves all contracted projects, ensuring projects meet program requirements and community needs. Completes project and financial closeout procedures including financial reviews, grant closeouts, final reports, and prepares project closeout documents.

A ssists and supports ANTHC leadership in the achievement of ANTHC goals and objectives.

P erforms other duties as assigned.

U nder close supervision, the Climate Adaptation Project Manager I supports climate adaptation projects involving planning, scope development, funding acquisition, implementation, and closeout.

C LIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT MANAGER II

U nder general supervision, the Climate Adaptation Project Manager II supports climate adaptation projects involving planning, scope development, funding acquisition, implementation, and closeout.

D evelops goals and priorities in conjunction with employees, and assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches subordinate staff. Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations.

C LIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT MANAGER III

U nder limited supervision, the Climate Adaptation Project Manager III manages complex climate adaptation programs, with a variety of projects, involving planning, scope development, funding acquisition, implementation, and closeout.

P rovides leadership, direction, guidance, and direct supervision to assigned staff. Develops goals and priorities in conjunction with employees, and assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches subordinate staff. Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations.

C LIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT MANAGER I

N on-supervisory: Two (2) years of planning, project management, research, or other experience with climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, or other relevant projects. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for experience.

C LIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT MANAGER II

N on-supervisory: Non-Supervisory: Five (5) years of planning, project management, research, or other experience with climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, public works or other relevant projects. At least two (2) years of experience in rural Alaska is preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for experience.

C LIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT MANAGER III

N on-supervisory: Eight (8) years of planning, project management, research, or other experience with climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, public works or other relevant projects. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for experience.
