Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary: Works in the employee health program for Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) under general supervision provides professional nursing services to accomplish the goals of the Occupational Health Program for ANTHC. Conducts health screenings, performs required testing, immunizations and documentation in support of the Occupational Health Program.

Responsibilities:

All

C onducts health screenings of new employees to include health history, and verification of immunization status.

A dministers vaccinations, performs blood testing, N95 respirator fit testing, and performs TB SCREENINGS PER THE Employee Health protocols and standing orders.

A cts as a consultant to Human Resources on health questionnaires, job placement, medical limitations and/or health risks to patients and coworkers.

W orking closely with Risk and Safety, Infection Control Program professionals, and The Joint Commission, follows-up on employees potentially exposed to communicable and infectious disease.

P articipates with the design of occupational medical monitoring program for employees exposed to workplace physical and chemical hazards, including noise, lasers, respiratory hazards, and chemotherapy agents.

M aintains the confidentiality of patient records and procedures.

W orks closely with safety personnel within ANTHC divisions on occupational safety programs. Acts as a consultant for employees who are missing time from work or who required job modifications due to either a workplace injury or a personal illness.

P articipates in the design of controls for injury/illness and health surveillance programs related to actual and potential hazards in the workplace and prepares reports as required.

M aintains employee health records as well as summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting, including OSHA records.

P erforms other duties as assigned.

E MPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE II

A ssist in training new Employee Health RNs and LPNs. Act as a resource for Employee Health Nurse I.

I ndependently investigate Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) exposures and provide education to employee involved.

P articipate in Safer Sharps projects.

I ndependently use resources (CDC, JCO, NIOSH, ACIP, Infection Control and Medical Director) to make sound decisions on plan of care for employees.

E MPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE III

D uties of Employee Health Nurse II.

T rain and mentor new hire Employee Health RNs and LPNs I and II.

M ember of Safer Sharps work group. Able to analyze BBP exposure data for trends, educational opportunities and product evaluation needs.

M ay assume responsibility for the Manager in their absence.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

E MPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE I

A ssociates Degree in Nursing. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

E MPOYEE HEALTH NURSE II/III

A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience and an Associate’s of Nursing degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

M INIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

N on-supervisory - Three (3) years of related work experience, An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

M INIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

C urrent registered nurse license in the State of Alaska and remain active with all annual licensing requirements .

C urrent Basic Life Support card required.
