Summary:
Under the general direction of the Risk Manager, assists in the development and delivery of work related to safety, insurance and risk management programs for ANTHC by managing/sourcing data needed for completion of insurance renewal applications and audits.

Responsibilities:

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
W orks collaboratively with the Risk Management team to assist in responding to risk, safety and insurance concerns. Gathers data from department managers and division leaders for completion of insurance renewal applications and audits. Provides insurance renewal documents including issuance of Auto ID card, Certificates of Insurance, WC posters and Property Statement of Values. Assists Risk Manager in adjusting property and casualty claims.
Works with safety technicians to gather information and evidence to defend the Consortium against liability claims and lawsuits. Reports property, automobile and liability potentially compensable events and claims to ANTHC’s insurance broker and insurance carriers. Coordinates handling of routine claims. Ensures accurate payment of claim expenses. D evelops and maintains databases and spreadsheets to track and analyze accidents, claims and losses.
Enters safety concerns into on-line incident reporting system. Provides information for board reporting . Obtains Motor Vehicle records and maintains database for records according to legal requirements. Determines eligibility to drive on behalf of ANTHC and communicates with employees and supervisors. Responds to written credentialing requests from outside agencies for confirmation of employment, insurance coverage and a claims history of former medical providers.
Maintains a Notary Public Appointment. Performs data entry into the financial system to prepare purchase orders and check requests according to established procedures. Orders, obtains and maintains materials and supplies as needed for departmental operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
Skill with high proficiency in the development, use and application of spreadsheets, databases, word processing and presentation software.
Knowledge of loss control, safety and claims handling and insurance practices.
Knowledge of review of insurance and risk management programs for the effectiveness of coverage
A bility to handle complex issues and problems and escalate when necessary.
S trong safety awareness and ability to perform visual safety inspections and recognize hazards.
A bility to read and understand police reports and claim forms and follow basic claim handling protocols.
D etail oriented with the ability to work independently and produce consistently accurate work product.
S trong analytical, oral and written communication skill.
S kill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines.
K nowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture.
M INIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

Bachelor’s Degree or related field preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non-supervisory – A minimum of two years’ experience in Claim Management or as a Claims Adjuster, or in Claims Administration, or Compliance or Safety Technician.

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or Business Administration

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Risk Management certifications desired or willingness and ability to obtain within a reasonable time.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Depending on the needs of the organization , some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas.
