Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary:

Under general supervision, works closely with the Marketing and Communications team on leading development, architecture, and administration for Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s (ANTHC) public-facing websites. Provides ongoing support, maintenance, and optimization of websites.

This is a full-time position and is open to remote work.

Responsibilities:

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Collaborate with designers, content writers, and project coordinators to develop innovative, high-quality websites and landing pages on WordPress CMS. Must be able to work with others. The developer is often involved in more than just website build, making it essential that the candidate possesses strong communication skills and is team oriented. This individual needs to be eager to take on new challenges, and willing to provide recommendations as a technical resource for the overall company.

Reviews, analyzes, creates and recommends enhancements and modifications to ANTHC’s websites to align with best practice trends. Develops, creates and modifies existing website content and web applications.

Responsible for front- and back-end WordPress development and deep knowledge of WordPress, UI/UX, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and HTML.

Plans, develops and creates web applications and web pages. Consults with users to identify concerns and implement changes to improve content and service and recommending content management strategies/best practices.

Consistently provides strong technical leadership and excellent customer service; and frequently serves as the primary lead on small to medium process improvement efforts.

Creates and enforces procedures and standards for coding development and testing. Develops, encodes, debugs and deploys new applications, both standard plugins and hardcoded. Ability to create secure and update HIPPA compliant forms and websites. Conducts system test and maintenance activities after implementation.

Monitors application functionality and tunes it for optimum performance including mobile view and advertising optimization. Also ensure sites are optimized with consideration of limited internet access in rural Alaska. Prepares data dictionary and technical documentation of new application, and training guides and procedural manuals for the users.

Manages and is responsible for site-wide monitoring, use tracking, and reporting. Oversee external web developer contractors as needed.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • A strong knowledge and proficiency of WordPress, HTML5, CSS3.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO best practices, page speed optimization, and website security.
  • Knowledge of source control; like Bitbucket or Github.
  • Write clean, organized code, with clear attention to detail.
  • Ability to add/edit basic DNS properties.
  • Excellent communication skills and enjoys working with a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to any situation in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Advanced understanding of rendering capabilities of CSS, HTML and JavaScript in different web browsers (cross-browser compatibility)
  • Advanced ability to translate and implement HTML and CSS from design mock ups
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Skill in project management, assessing, and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, marketing, communications, or business preferred with a minimum of five years of proven web development experience.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

  • Non-supervisory – Five (5) years professional work in website development and WordPress-related technologies or related area.

  • Masters or Doctorate of Pharmacy or Nursing degree or comparable work experience preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Advanced level of CSS and CSS3, including complex layout

Familiarity following ADA guidelines and best practices

Familiarity developing sites for search optimization

Experience in Google Analytics

Conceptualize and implement technical solutions to solve marketing challenges

Understanding of modern digital design
