Alaska Womens Health is Hiring a Patient Experience Coordinator Near Anchorage, AK

Job Summary:

This is a clerical position responsible for greeting and assisting patients and other visitors to the medical practice. The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who enjoys working with people, is a self-starter, multi-tasker and team player. Be able to perform the essential job duties as described, be friendly and approachable and maintain a good attendance record. Telephone and in-person customer service skills are required. Manage incoming telephone calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner and assume other clerical duties as assigned.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Greet and acknowledge all patients and visitors, review and update patient information, confirm patient identity, check in / check out patient appointments, schedule follow-up or secondary appointments.

2. Ask for and collect payments, deductibles, and co-insurance. Explain financial requirements for the patient or responsible parties when needed. Log and post payments in the EHR system (Athena Health), prepare and balance daily deposits.

3. Provide a high level of Customer Service and represent our business professionally and courteously at all times.

4. Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally. Route calls appropriately, offering voice mail, messaging options, or redirection of calls as needed.

5. Schedule appointments, verify insurance information, confirming appointment times or managing any changes to appointments. Input information accurately and completely. Communicate and document changes, updates or cancellations. Managing providers schedules.

6. Greet vendors, delivery persons and other visitors and assist them as is appropriate. Contact or messages employees to meet visitors, monitor waiting areas, and courteously screen solicitors for relevance to organization needs.

7. Perform all duties in accordance with HIPAA Privacy Compliance and Hitech Act regulations. Consistently follow scheduling guidelines and procedures.

8. Light cash handling, receipting and other clerical duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 2 years medical office experience, preferably in Women’s Health is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Athena in preferable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficient in the usage of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Other Requirements: A desire to grow personally and professionally.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and practice.
  • Knowledge of multi-line telephone systems operation.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clinic systems.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and cash handling duties

Skills:

  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Skill in operating office equipment such as scanners, printers, copiers and fax machines.
  • Skill in maintaining and updating clinical records or schedules.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

Abilities:

  • Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with callers, patients and office staff. Pleasant speaking voice.
  • Ability to multitask without the loss of quality of work.
  • Ability to prevent, calm or defuse upset callers and patients by working with them to identify concerns, provide service and solutions.
  • Ability to put the needs of the patient first and to serve them with respect and care.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent walking, bending, squatting, standing, and kneeling.
  • Repetitive motion of hands and fingers in order to operate a keyboard, a calculator, a photocopier, a fax machine, a credit card machine, and other office equipment.
  • Light lifting, including but not limited to, lifting reams of paper, carrying patient charts and files, pulling and filing patient charts, etc.
  • Exposure to germs, contagious diseases, and blood borne pathogens that might be introduced into the clinic by patients.
  • Must be able to communicate through written and oral means.
  • Position is in a well-lit office environment. Monday-Friday.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.47 - $24.87 per hour
