We are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to help us make a difference by serving individuals in Albany County with Behavioral Health Challenges. Albany County Department of Mental Health is committed to building and sustaining a diverse, representative, and inclusive team.

We are seeking applications to fill a position as a Mental Health Assistant within the Department on the Community Mental Health Criminal Justice Unit. In this role teh candidate would help individuals with Behavioral Health challenges who, in view of their treatment history and present circumstances, are unlikely to survive safely in the community without supervision and therefore may be considered for an Assisted Outpatient Treatment Order. This candidate would work within the system of care and collaborate with internal and external providers to help these individuals engage with care. Emphasis on serving and being knowledgeable about diverse communities and populations is appreciated. This is a competitive civil service position that may be filled provisionally by the appointment of a person who meets the minimum qualifications established for such positions. Specific hours will be discussed further if an interview is offered.

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, sociology or a related field.
• This is a 35 hour a week Civil Service position. Starting Salary $40,498
