Position Overview: The firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Private Equity Associate to join their dynamic Munich team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private equity, investment banking, or consulting, with a demonstrated focus on special situations within the industrials sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior investment professionals and portfolio company management teams to execute transactions and drive post-investment value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deal Sourcing and Evaluation:
  • Identify and evaluate investment opportunities in the industrials sector, with a particular focus on special situations.
  • Conduct detailed market and industry research to support investment theses.
  • Develop financial models and perform valuation analyses to assess potential investments.
  1. Due Diligence:
  • Lead and manage comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and legal analyses.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and consultants to support the due diligence process.
  1. Transaction Execution:
  • Assist in the structuring and negotiation of investment transactions.
  • Prepare investment committee presentations and other transaction-related documentation.
  • Work closely with legal teams to finalize transaction agreements.
  1. Portfolio Management:
  • Monitor and manage portfolio company performance, identifying opportunities for operational improvements and value creation.
  • Support portfolio company management teams in strategic planning, financial reporting, and operational initiatives.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  1. Team Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with senior investment professionals and other team members to achieve firm objectives.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or corporate finance. Specific experience in special situations and the industrials sector is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Languages: Fluency in German and English is required.
