Preschool Music Teacher
Aldersgate Weekday School is a Christian Preschool looking for an enthusiastic, energetic Music Teacher who loves working with children 1-5 years of age. Our teaching philosophy is learning thru play. Hours for this position are 8:30 – 12:30 three days a week, September - May. Currently the days are Monday – Wednesday but there is some flexibility; with approximately 12 hours of teaching time. There are 12 classes that need to be covered on a weekly basis. There are many resources/supplies available (CDs, instruments for children, etc.). The position would start August 26, 2024. Please inquire to Evelyn Johnson, Director at evie@aldersgate.org
Responsibilities:
- Create a lesson plan with developmentally appropriate music and movement activities for each age group
- Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote a love of music and movement
- Lead a Christmas Program for parents to observe and celebrate what children are learning.
- Lead the music portion of the Pre-k graduation ceremony in May for families.
- Lead chapel music on Wednesday
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and teachers
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience in working with children and teaching music
- Passionate about music and children
- Organized and a lot of energy
- Positive and patient demeanor
- Excellent verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Music and/or Early Childhood
- Experience teaching in an early childhood setting
- Proficient with musical instruments is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 12 per week
