Job description:

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its main mode of expression and communication. Art therapists/art psychotherapists use art as a medium to address emotional issues which may be confusing and distressing.

Main Population: Children and adolescent

Schedule: Open and Flexible

Transportation: Required.

Place of services may vary including Home, schools and other Educational Centers.

Starting Salary: per session.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Lead individual sessions, providing a safe and supportive environment for clients to engage in creative expression. This involves facilitating art-making activities and guiding clients in exploring their thoughts and feelings through art.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of clients' progress, including session notes, service log, consent to treatment, etc. Documentation may be used for treatment planning, progress monitoring, and communication with other healthcare professionals.
• Incorporate art-based interventions to promote cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, and behavioral modification. Use art-making activities to enhance self-awareness, self-regulation, and coping skills.
• Guide clients in exploring and expressing their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through art-making processes. Use a range of artistic materials and techniques to encourage self-expression and communication.

Skills needed:

• Strong knowledge of therapy principles, theory, methods and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent listening and communication skills, patience, and an interest in human behavior.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Creative and have a passion for helping others.
• Comply with accepted professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
• Adhere to HIPAA and maintain client confidentiality.
• Clean background check.

License/Certification:

• Master Level required plus, at least one of this qualifications:
• ATR-BC (Registered, Board-Certified Art Therapist) (Required)
• Registered Mental health Counselor Intern (RMHCI)
• Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern (RCSWI)
• Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
