We hold ourselves accountable by providing the space for authenticity, growth, and equity for everyone.

AlixPartners has embraced a hybrid work model to provide flexibility and support our employees’ work-life integration. Our hybrid model combines a mix of in-person and remote working options.

Role Overview

AlixPartners is focused on further enhancing growth and value creation via mergers and acquisitions. We are seeking a high-achieving Corporate Development professional who is passionate about building a best-in-class, repeatable, scalable, and value accretive approach to M&A execution – spanning both due diligence and integration planning. In this role, you will work with executive and functional leaders across the business and around the globe to not only shape the firm’s future, with M&A as a consistent source of growth and value creation, but to ensure that due diligence and post-merger integration planning is executed programmatically and viewed through a single lens.

Know internally as Corporate Development, M&A Due Diligence and Integration Planning Director, this is a full-time role reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Development. The role can be either remote or based in a U.S. AlixPartners office location, and will require travel, including international. Paid relocation is not available.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and establish a best-in-class, repeatable, and scalable M&A execution strategy and model (e.g., people, work plans, processes, templates, tools, technologies), ensuring speed, efficiency, and effectiveness – with integration planning executed in parallel with due diligence. Lead, programmatically, the day-to-day due diligence execution and integration planning process for each contemplated transaction, working side-by-side with commercial and functional leaders to influence and maximize value creation, ensuring your commercial, functional, and technical knowledge is brought to bear.
  • Direct, motivate, and upskill cross-functional teams through the joint execution of high-quality due diligence and integration planning, ensuring work plans are clear, high standards of service are set, timelines are met, and deliverables are fit for executive consumption.
  • Independently and strategically tailor due diligence and integration based on the preliminary joint strategy and value creation plan, ensuring critical topics are covered upfront, cross-functional viewpoints are shared, and the joint strategy, value creation plan, and/or post-merger integration plan are evolved as appropriate as new insights are gleaned.
  • Partner with the commercial team (executive sponsor(s) and integration leader), in collaboration with respective functional leaders, to design the day-one readiness plan, target operating model, and post-closing governance structure for each contemplated transaction.
  • Monitor and evaluate post-closing success relative to the value creation and integration plans, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting frameworks, and success criteria to assess performance against KPIs.
  • Continually improve M&A execution, leveraging lessons learned from prior transactions, to maximize results for AlixPartners and optimize the experience for acquired companies’ leadership, employees, and clients.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the firm with target companies; become a sought-after, trusted advisor and thought leader for M&A due diligence execution and integration planning within the firm; translate strategic direction into functional-level executable programs; make recommendations that align to what is best for the firm; mentor and coach colleagues; navigate complex situations in calm, collaborative, and solution-oriented manner; promote inclusiveness and openness with colleagues; ensure teammates see the value of their contributions to the future of the firm; and deliver tangible business impact..
  • Develop concise, yet thorough, and compelling presentations for and make recommendations to the C-Suite, executive leadership, and Board of Directors with respect to contemplated and/or completed transactions as appropriate.
  • Additional responsibilities as identified. This description is not designed to encompass a comprehensive listing of required activities, duties, or responsibilities.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience with a minimum of 7 years of relevant M&A advisory, M&A consulting, corporate development, and/or post-merger integration experience ideally in or for a professional services firm.
  • Experience in a leading, large, multi-national professional services organization preferred.
  • Exceptional program and project management skills, with proven ability to lead nimble teams across large, complex organizations solving interdependent, cross-functional business and operational issues.
  • Substantial contributor, individually, to program and project execution – demonstrating leadership through action.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to identify and collaboratively deliver high-impact outcomes, adapting to changing environments, and with limited oversight across multiple simultaneous initiatives and projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to communicate concisely to influence and present effectively to the C-Suite, executive leadership, and Board of Directors.
  • Ability to establish rapport and effective relationships at multiple levels while driving accountability for shared results.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to challenge in a confident and constructive manner.
  • Ability to apply artificial intelligence to M&A execution (or interest in learning).
  • Ability to work long hours, sometimes outside of normal US business hours, and travel as necessary to meet project demands.
  • Must become familiar with, and promote and abide by, our Core Values as defined by the AlixPartners’ Code of Conduct and foster an inclusive environment with people at all levels and backgrounds in the organization.
  • Travel required (estimate 10% - 30%, deal dependent)

The firm offers a comprehensive benefits program including health, vision, dental, disability, 401K, tuition reimbursement, identity theft protection, and mental wellness support. Employees will also receive a generous paid leave policy including vacation/personal time starting at 7.34 hours per pay period, sick time up to 80 hours annually, parental leave, and twelve holidays.
