Coding Educator - Hospital Inpatient

Salary Range: $61,297.60 – $90,875.20

Location: Must reside in approved states within EST/CST Time Zones (Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin).

Required Certifications:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Required Experience:

- 5 years of recent acute care inpatient coding experience

- 3 years of experience as an inpatient coding trainer, educator, auditor, or manager

Preferred Education:

- Associate’s degree in Health Information Management

- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management

• Coding Inquiry Management
• Serve as the expert on diagnosis and procedure codes, medical terminology, and reimbursement schemes.
• Participate in problem identification, root cause analysis, and recommend solutions to management.
• Oversee system testing and act as a liaison to the CAC vendor and IT teams.
• Monitor CAC accuracy and identify EMR template variations.
• Recommend template revisions to improve coding accuracy.
• Coordinate testing efforts with coding superusers and IT teams.
• Assist with the annual verification of coding staff credentials.
• Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by AHIMA/AAPC and adhere to official coding guidelines.
