ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting area to the radiologic area
- Positions patients to obtain the most accurate view with the least discomfort; instructs
patient about how to position their body appropriately, hold their breath, etc.
- Obtains clear images of the views requested by the physician using appropriate safety
precautions, and wearing protective equipment and radiology monitor at all times
- Applies appropriate exposure technique in developing/processing films; informs physician, nurse, or other practitioner when film has been developed and is ready for reading
- Implements correct protocol re: shielding and pregnancy forms.
- Maintains a minimal repeat ratio
- Escorts patient back to exam room, or asks an assistant to do so
- Marks the encounter form to show how many views were taken
- Processes patient requests and receives patient films as they are delivered to the practice; develops and maintains an organized catalogue system to reference them
- Takes radiology stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to the Radiologic Coordinator
- Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on x-ray equipment; ensures that
equipment complies with regulatory requirements
- Determine patients’ xray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
- Follows the protocol for loaning and/or copying films for patients and referring physicians
- Complies with all OSHA mandates for dosimeter readings and quality assurance
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines
established by the practice.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Maintains knowledge of the views each individual physician prefers
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains
professional affiliations
- Attends annual CPR, OSHA, and CLIA training programs.
- Attends all regular staff meetings.
- Completes all other duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator, Manager or
Physicians.
