Allegria Village, a retirement community in Dearborn, is currently looking for a per diem/contingent occupational therapist.

Education/Certification: • Graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy • Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required. • Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Job Responsibilities: 1. Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures. 2. Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports. 3. Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals. 4. Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning. 5. Designs individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients. 6. Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients' families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain. 7. Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs. 8. Participates in patient support groups with other team members. 9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: • Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population • Must possess problem solving skills to successfully perform job • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong customer service orientation. • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, andfamily members • Ability to travel as needed to perform job • Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipmentPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
