Chief Plumbing Inspector

Service Area: Environmental Health

Reports to: Director of Environmental Health Services

Full Time: 37.5 hours/week

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Chief Plumbing Inspector - $24.99 - $30.45

Interim Chief Plumbing Inspector - $22.66 – $27.63

Under supervision of the Director of Environmental Health Services, the Chief Plumbing Inspector ensures the Plumbing Program is operated in compliance with applicable program standards, state laws and rules, and Board of Health policies and regulations.

Areas of Responsibility:

· Ensure plumbing contractors working in Allen County are properly registered

· Complete and document Plumbing Plan approvals as needed

· Educating permit holders on compliance questions and options

· Issue plumbing permits

· Perform plumbing compliance inspections and re-inspections, and issue approvals or violation orders as warranted.

· Perform sanitary sewer connection inspections inside existing homes

· Initiate enforcement action as needed in consultation with Director

· Maintain Plumbing Program files and correspondence

Qualifications:

· High school graduate or equivalent

· Seven years of experience in commercial/industrial plumbing required

· Plumbing Inspector certificate and a Plumbing Plans Examiner certificate issued from the Ohio Board of Building Standards, OR

· Interim Plumbing Inspector certificate and an Interim Plumbing Plans Examiner certificate issued from the Ohio Board of Building Standards

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of auto liability insurance coverage required

· Must be physically able to perform all inspection duties.

Working Conditions:

· Occasional overtime, night or weekend hours may be required

· Works within the Allen County Combined Health District; occasional out-of-county travel
