ROLE: Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Shop Lead, the machinist is responsible for carrying out a variety of machining tasks, including reading and understanding work orders to perform various machining functions (e.g., boring, edge prep, and hinge dapping) on doors and frames. The machinist also performs various preventative maintenance to ensure all machinery is running at optimum performance level and within industry tolerances.

SHIFT: 5:00AM to 1:30PM, M-F

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with Production Lead and Door Pullers to ensure all doors are correctly pulled, handed and palletized to start daily production.
• Read and understand residential work orders and hardware templates.
• Accurately machine stock, special order, and complex door units using both CNC and pneumatic machinery to work order specifications.
• Perform all daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance to door machines.
• Cross-train all departments to provide overflow support.
• Follow all safety and work rule/procedures as directed.

CORE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Our ideal candidate comes with the following skills:

• Previous CNC or pneumatic machine operator experience
• Mathematical aptitude and understanding of imperial measurements to the 1/32 on an inch
• Ability to read and understand hardware templates and drawings
• Willing to become comfortable using the following:
  • Chop saws, table saws, rip saws, hand saws
  • Routers, nail guns, door machines
  • Various pneumatic tools and drills
• Willing to be cross-trained in all areas of production
• Able to stand (8-9 hrs per day), walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Able to regularly lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift items up to 70 pounds
• Collaborate in team lifts for objects between 70 and 150 pounds and maneuver items weighing up to 150 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

• $21.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience
