Alliance for a Healthier Generation is Hiring a Senior Manager, Business Development Near Portland, OR

Healthier Generation has worked with schools, youth-serving organizations, businesses, and communities, promoting healthy environments so that young people can achieve lifelong health. Our work, in total, has reached more than 31 million children and meaningfully improved the environments that support their physical, social, and emotional health.

Job Purpose – What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development, you will play a key role in implementing Healthier Generation’s evolving business development strategies, with shared accountability for $1M in revenue for The Walking Classroom and an overall business development goal of $2M. You will collaborate across teams to generate K12 prospects and leads, with particular interest in The Walking Classroom. Highly engaged with external audiences, you will position Healthier Generation’s services and products, with particular focus on The Walking Classroom, at conferences, events, and meetings.

Core Responsibilities

Build a robust pipeline of K-12 education leads & prospects

  • Responsible for generating new leads among K-12 education prospects, with particular interest in The Walking Classroom
  • Lead and execute logistical planning and management related to conferences and external meetings where we may be exhibiting and/or presenting about The Walking Classroom or other products & services. This would involve exhibit management & execution at 4-6 national conferences annually.
  • Provide planning and live support of webinars to promote Healthier Generation’s products & services
  • Provide ongoing training, coordination, and support to Healthier Generation’s program staff to support lead generation and prospect engagement
  • Support cultivation of relationships with prospective partners and clients through discovery meetings and other communications
  • Collaborate across teams to generate new leads and opportunities for all products and services

Support grant & contract needs to ensure customer success

  • Regularly monitor and track customer engagement to meet grant and/or contract deliverables
  • Support grant and/or contract development and reporting needs
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure successful implementation of grants and contracts

Support organizational business development operations

  • Regularly report against business development goals and metrics
  • Regularly track and update process in CRM system
  • Support product logistics and management, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and experience requirements for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; or combination of education and experience
  • At least 4-7 years of experience in business development, sales, fundraising, or partner/client engagement, or related field
  • Experience working in K-12 education; ed-tech experience preferred
  • Experience managing a diverse portfolio of prospective partners or clients preferred
  • Experience working in a remote, virtual environment preferred

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of business development, sales, and/or fundraising strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of partner and/or client engagement strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of K-12 education systems; knowledge in education technology is a plus

  • Ability to effectively communicate multiple services and products to diverse audiences, both external clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated technology skills to support the promotion and sales of digital tools and products
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to collaborate across internal teams and with all levels of staff and leadership
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a virtual team environment
  • Ability to be an innovative thinker and problem-solver in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Experience utilizing a CRM tools, such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Required frequent travel by car or plane up to 30% of the time
  • Spring and fall tend to be busy conference months and may require more than 1 trip a month

Each job at Healthier Generation is assigned to a salary grade built on market data. For an individual coming into Healthier Generation, we set pay generally between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary grade and based on qualifications. For this position, the salary range is from $80,600 to $89,500.
