Alliance for Aging Inc. is Hiring a Medicare Fraud Program Coordinator (SMP) Temp to Perm Near Miami, FL

This position is a temp to perm position with primary emphasis on fulfilling the Senior Medicare Patrol grant performance measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully completes all required SHINE, SMP, STARS, SIRS and Presentation Skills training.
  • Develop partnerships with senior housing developments, physician offices, hospitals, law enforcement and organizations that can refer potential Medicare fraud cases.
  • Develop relationship with local media stations to educate Medicare Beneficiaries about the SMP program and how to detect, prevent and report Medicare fraud.
  • Enters all partnership development and outreach activity into STARS reporting system.
  • Presents Florida Department of Elder Affairs SMP Presentations to small or large community groups to educate on how to prevent, detect and report Medicare fraud.
  • Attends outreach events such as health fairs and senior resource fairs in Miami-Dade & Monroe counties to educate consumers on Medicare fraud. Disseminates SMP brochures and information approved by the Alliance for Aging.
  • Speaks with Medicare beneficiaries who want to report suspected Medicare fraud.
  • Reports suspected Medicare fraud cases into the STARS and SIRS reporting systems.
  • Manages complex interactions with beneficiaries who are reporting specific instances of Medicare fraud, error and abuse.
  • Participates in SMP calls with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned by supervisory staff and Senior Management.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Maintains all documents in a locked file or a digital file.
  • Observes HIPAA rules and regulations and keeps all information in strictest confidence.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree and one (1) year of experience
  • Successful completion of Level 2 background screening
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish. Creole helpful but not necessary.
  • Any exceptions to the minimum requirements must be approved by the President and CEO.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Able to relate positively and respectfully to older individuals, the public, community officials and agency staff.
  • Computer literate.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively, diplomatically and concisely.
  • Requires a passing score of 80% or higher on the SHINE Basic Training program exam within 3 months of date of hire.
  • Must obtain certification as a SHINE Presenter within three months of date of hire.
  • Able to set priorities, meet deadlines and organize tasks efficiently.
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction to meet performance objectives.
  • Must not hold a license to sell insurance including but not limited to life, health and variable annuity.
  • Must not have a conflict of interest.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 10 pounds as you may be required to take a cart of materials to an outreach event.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including a copier and scanner.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for more than 1 hour at a time.
  • Ability to bend and stoop in order to file and shelve.

Work Environment:

This position may work remotely or at the Alliance for Aging office or a combination of both.

  • Work is Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.

Some weekend work may be required to attend health fairs.

  • Work may not exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Firearms and weapons are prohibited on the Alliance for Aging premise and while performing this work in the community.
  • All documents must be kept in a locked, confidential area in a home office and the Alliance for Aging reserves the right to inspect the home office work environment to check for HIPAA compliance.
  • SMP Specialist is prohibited from meeting with clients at an individual’s residence. All meetings must be held a prior-approved SHINE partner sites.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $18.26 per hour
