Job Description
SUMMARY
The Product Engineer is responsible for researching break through products that could impact, apply to or compete with rubber bands, rubber sheeting, strips, silicone, etc. Based on research this individual would suggest new products for consideration, design new products, including machinery or recommend other purchases necessary to manufacture the new product, including costing for evaluation prior to proceeding. In addition, this person is expected to offer ideas and means to improve existing products or better control expenses affecting the costing of current products. This person will be intimately involved from conception to completion of all assignments. The individual will operate as part of a team and be responsible for the production and testing of new products.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both in a fast-paced office setting with frequent interruptions and a warehouse that is not climate controlled. This position requires the ability to communicate well in difficult situations with a diverse group of people. Occasionally need to drive a vehicle to other work meeting locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work under direction of Marketing Manager to manage work load in terms of new products as well as improving existing products
Responsible, as well as Sales and Marketing, for suggesting new product ideas
Responsible for analyzing product design details and manufacturing processes
Responsible for product testing to meet intended specifications
Provide technical input support for new product project team members
Work as integral part of follow-up assessment team to determine problems that may arise in production

Basic Qualifications
Minimum three years experience in R & D with proven track record of successful new product development
Must be creative and able to “think outside the box”
Organized and detail-oriented
Must be mechanically inclined
Ability to handle multiple projects at once; multi-tasker and work with limited or no supervision
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Affable personality to work with others and leadership skills to generate enthusiasm for the project(s) at hand.
Ability to communicate effectively in English with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency
